The holiday season has begun. We are very lucky to be able to spend this wonderful time together with our dogs at the lake. The dogs can romp, run, dig, hunt and swim here. Just pausing without end and to your heart's content. The welcome gift alone (see image 1) already makes the heart rejoice.
Steffi and Bernd have created a wonderful paradise for their dogs, which they always generously make available to us. You can't make up for this with money and words. Many, many thanks from all 36 paws and 6 feet for this wonderful holiday, which you always make possible for us 4 and 2-legged friends. We always enjoy this wonderful time with you and with you with all our senses. This is where the great shots for our calendar are always taken.
The last race for this season took place at the weekend. It was a wonderful end to the racing season. The track length of 6.7km was shortened to 5.4km at the urging of some mushers. This stretch, the trail led through the adjacent forest. ......
The first sled dog race took place in Wörlitz. The organizers and numerous helpers got this race up and running in a very short time. Next year the route is to be changed again, which was not possible this year due to the short time available (nature reserve).
Conclusion: In my opinion it was a successful event. Nothing was missing - electricity without failures, great musher evening, great food .... Dogs and mushers enjoyed this weekend. But what would a sled dog race be without a cozy get-together. We always enjoy it to the fullest. Here we refuel for the coming work week(s).
Now it's off to Colbitz and after that the racing season will be over for the time being. Thanks to modern media, we don't lose sight of each other during the summer break.
We spent 6 wonderful days in Seiffen. My husband used this short vacation to make friends with his wooden sleds. The wooden sled looks nostalgic and is also a real eye-catcher. Unfortunately, as confirmed by experienced mushers, it is not suitable for sprint races, but rather for longer distances - distance distances. Well, since we only own this one sled, my husband had to make the most of these historic sleds. ........
Another wonderful and at the same time exciting weekend is over. For my husband it was the first sled dog race – his maiden voyage, so to speak. How could it be otherwise, a few things went wrong before the start. We drove to the start with the pickup and the dogs. This is more relaxed and calmer for both our dogs and us. Of course, this “great idea” came from me!!?? Unfortunately, despite four-wheel drive, we got stuck in the snow. Both visitors and mushers tried to get the pick-up free. However, it didn't move a millimeter. I was able to persuade my husband to take it easy at first. The problem I would then during his
Another wonderful weekend is over. Benneckenstein is a race that simply shouldn't be missed. The location is fantastic, the trail is great and organizationally everything was well planned. Nothing was missing - except snow. But we can't blame the organizers for that, so unfortunately it was a chariot race again and we weren't able to use our well-waxed sled yet. ........
Another wonderful weekend is behind us. Our daughter also wanted to take part in this race and start in the bicycle class. Due to the difficult weather conditions, the bike, scooter and Scandinavian classes were removed from the list of participants. Pity! She will now start in Colbitz with her Angel in the Velo class.
For classes O, A, B, C and D, the race track was shortened from 5.7 to 3.0 km. In addition, the trail was groomed in such a way that it could be mastered safely for both our dogs and the musher. My husband and his team won first place.
Klink an der Müritz was the 4th race for us. Unfortunately, due to renovation work on the hotel and a change of ownership, it was also the last race. Maybe it will continue after the renovation work.
The temperatures of 3-5 degrees were ideal for our sport. Both days went great. Our dogs have slowly learned to eat, rest and shit at the stake out.. . Without this urge, it just runs better.
The atmosphere is just great. You always get to know new mushers. New friendships are made that I don't want to miss anymore. It is an incredibly pleasant and relaxing balance to our work. Although the weekends are by no means relaxing and pass calmly. The day starts at 6:30 a.m. - with our dogs, of course, and it ends at 10:00 p.m. - with our dogs, of course. What more do you need to be happy!?
The Christmas holidays are about to begin. This year we will not only spend this special time with our family, but also with our beneficial friends, whom we have made through our sled dog sport. We are really looking forward to this meeting where we will eat a 15 kg turkey. I hope I can too!!
Off to the 20th sled dog race in Spremberg. My mother-in-law, whose birthday is always this weekend, postponed the celebration to the coming weekend, so that we could go to Spremberg without having a guilty conscience. In the meantime, she has also noticed the enthusiasm and joy with which her son pursues this sport.
My work colleague visited me this weekend. She wanted to see what I do on my "free" weekends. Her son, who wasn't too enthusiastic at first, quickly became friends with the musher children. He even successfully took part in the children's race - with a scooter dog. The initial fears of contact with the dogs were gone after the children's race. He was very trusting and loving towards the dogs. The dogs took full advantage of this, of course, so that he could hardly get away.
The summary of this weekend. My work colleague was impressed by the race weekend. We radiate happiness and satisfaction, it is an ideal balance to our strenuous work.
North German championship season 2013/2014 class A1 - 2nd place
This weekend, the temperatures were more inviting for a leisurely family outing. The temperatures were far too high for a sled dog race, so the organizer postponed several race classes to the late afternoon hours. In addition, the route length was shortened enormously.
We used this weekend together with our dogs - as an introductory race. We met many of our friends again after the long summer break and it's always wonderful.
The racing season has finally started again. In Calvörde, my husband's team took 4th place. Due to the rise in temperature, the race track was shortened. It was another wonderful weekend.
